This act establishes a new regulatory structure for VLT slot machine regulation and casino gaming should the Rhode Island voters chose to do so in the November election. The bill establishes a 5 person Rhode Island Gaming Commission to establish the rules and regulations necessary to begin casino gaming in the state. The RI Gaming commission would also have regulatory oversight over current VLT gaming at Lincoln Park and Newport Grand. The bill also establishes a Division of Gaming in the department of Attorney General that includes RI State Police participation in gaming investigation, and enforcement. The costs of the program would be assessed to prospective casino licensees or to VLT operators.
