This bill would change the jurisdiction of R.I. General Law section 11-9-5.3, “Brendan’s Law” from the Family Court to the Superior Court. Brendan’s Law provides that any person who has care of a child who knowing or intentionally: inflicts upon a child serious bodily injury or serious physical injury. Other offenses under Chapters 11-9-1 - 11-9-8 whose jurisdiction is vested in the Superior Court include Exploitation for Commercial or Immoral Purposes, Child Nudity in Publications and Child Pornography.
